Battery maintenance for electric vehicles

2023-07-12
1. Firstly, overloading and overweight driving are not allowed. When the instrument panel displays low battery power during driving, it is necessary to use manual driving, as deep discharge can cause significant loss of battery life.

2. Pay attention to the charging method. When charging a new battery for the first time, it must take a long time to ensure that it is fully charged. For Lead–acid battery, no matter how far they are, they should be charged immediately after use. They should be discharged and charged at the same time. They should not be charged until the battery is completely exhausted. If the car is not used for a long time, it should also be ensured that the battery is recharged once a month. This not only protects the battery but also extends its service life.

3. The characteristics of timely charging Lead–acid battery should be fully charged and stored. Do not recharge until the discharge is completed. This will speed up the vulcanization of the battery plate, reduce the capacity of the battery quickly, and shorten the life of the battery.

4. Timely replenishment of liquid batteries relies on the chemical reaction between a certain concentration of sulfuric acid solution and lead to generate electrical energy. Once the liquid is insufficient, the battery will quickly heat up and be damaged during use. Therefore, timely replenishment of liquid is crucial.

5. Try to avoid sudden braking and accelerate slowly. Try to maintain medium speed driving to save the most electricity and minimize the impact on the battery. The new battery can travel around 60 kilometers at a speed of no more than 15 kilometers per hour, while at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour, it can only travel around 45 kilometers

6. Do not use the motor to start the car directly when it is stationary. It is best to use your foot to assist in starting it at the same time. When driving on the bridge, uphill, or against the wind, it is important to use a foot pedal to assist, in order to avoid causing impact damage to the battery and affecting its range and service life.

7. During driving, do not suddenly accelerate significantly. Sudden and significant acceleration means that the battery has a strong current discharge, which not only damages the battery plate, rapidly reduces the battery capacity, shortens its lifespan, but also easily burns out the switch contacts of the key switch (commonly known as the wire tail).
